Paid Traffic Methods

Paid Traffic Methods For Getting Visitors To Your Site…

money2For the most part, you want to save most paid traffic methods for when you are already making some sort of income online.  Or you at least want to wait to use paid traffic methods until you know exactly what you are doing, and you have an exact plan of attack for whatever you are doing.

You want to wait until you know exactly what you are doing because if you don’t you will most likely just waste your money.

I can’t tell you how many people try to jump right into pay per click without really knowing much about it.  They think that because they know how to setup an ad, and how to use an affiliate link that they can succeed with PPC, and that could not be further from the truth.  I can tell you that about 99.9% of the people who do this not only lose money with PPC, but lose a lot of money.

You want to wait until you are making money to use paid traffic methods in most cases because once you are making money you know that what you are doing is already somewhat working.  So you know that sending paid traffic to your site should produce an income, hopefully on the positive side.

My best advice is to learn how to make money with the free methods first for the above reasons.  You have to walk before you crawl, or your going to fall!

Paid Traffic Method #1: Pay Per Click (PPC)

money3If you have been reading through my learning center like I recommend, by starting at the top and working your way down, then you already know a good amount about PPC as a paid traffic method.  Because I covered PPC in an earlier section I am not going to cover it in too much detail here, not to mention that this section is just to list paid traffic methods with only a short explanation anyways.

You can go to the Pay Per Click section to learn about PPC if you have not already done so.  Also, for those of you who are obssessed with learning how to make money with PPC, my best recommendation is PPC Coach.  They focus solely on PPC, and they are the best at teaching it.  Of course Wealthy Affiliate also covers PPC, and is also one of the best teachers of PPC, but they don’t focus solely on PPC but they focus on every aspect of internet marketing.

money5In my Pay Per Click section of the learning center, I cover what PPC is, steps to setting an ad up, the 3 main search engines, where the PPC ads display, and what you can do with a visitor after they click your ad.

Another important aspect of PPC is the keywords you choose to bid on.  For the most part, bidding on broad keywords is a big mistake.

You want to bid on very specific keywords to what your ad is, and make sure you group only very similar keywords together in the same ad group.  Don’t be afraid to make a bunch of different ads for the same product…this is where success comes from.  Bunch your similar keywords together, and base the ad copy around the keywords for that ad group [make sure the specific keywords for that ad group are in the ad].

That makes sure that your keywords are bold in the ad, and it also makes sure that the user finds an ad that shows you are giving them exactly what they are looking for.  This is a very important part of succeeding with PPC.

The same goes with landing pages.  Don’t be afraid to make different landing pages [with even the smallest changes] for each ad group, to make sure the landing page is very specific to your keywords you are bidding on for that certain ad group.  If you searcher sees the exact keywords they used to search in your ad AND your landing page, that is great for you.

Paid Traffic Method #2: Outsourcing

outsource1Now this is a pretty broad explanation of a paid traffic source, but it is also a very important paid traffic source.  Some may not even consider this a “paid traffic method”, but really it is.  You are paying someone to do work, and that PAID work is bringing you traffic.

Outsourcing is paying other people to do work for you.  One of the most common forms of outsourcing is writing articles.  Many people outsource article writing.  The reason they do so is either because their time is more valuable than what they are paying the person to do so, or because they are not good at writing articles themselves; or both.

Outsourcing makes an automated income SO much easier to achieve.  When you are able to outsource a job for $500, and turn around and make $1,000 off that outsourced work, you have just learned the art of an automated income.

Many of the most successful internet marketers, if not all of them, outsource a good amount of their work.  They probably outsource a lot more than you would think they would!

So what can you outsource?  What should you outsource?

That all depends on what you are good at, and if your time is worth more than what you would be paying to outsource the work.  Just be very careful when you are outsourcing, especially for SEO work.

SEO work is probably one of the toughest jobs to outsource, as it is very complicated to follow exactly what was done, what is permanent, if the price is worth it, and just tons of other factors.  Make sure if you outsource your SEO work, that you do your research on whoever is doing your work.

Ask a lot of questions, and make sure you get answers.  Be careful of people charging too much for services, but also be careful of people charging too little for their services.  The best way to find someone for SEO work is to ask around on the major forums and go by referral.

Paid Traffic Method #3: Press Releases\Directory Submission

submit1Although these are really two separate paid traffic methods, I wanted to place them together because they both have pretty short explanations.

A press release is basically a “news type” article announcing news about your site.  It could be about the launch of your site, a new addition, new changes, or any other reason you can think of.

This just gets the word out about your site.  It will give you more exposure, and more exposure means more traffic.  The site I like to use for my press releases is PRWeb.com.  They charge $80 for a press release, and I believe it is definitely worth it.

Next is a directory submission, and more specifically a Yahoo! directory submission.  A widely discussed topic is whether the Yahoo! directory submission service is worth it or not, as it costs $300 a year to list your site in the Yahoo! directory.

I don’t want to go into this debate, but I will say that I am on the side that believes this price is well worth it. If you are a beginner not making any money yet, it probably is not something you want to spend $300 on at the time, but just keep it in mind for the future.
