Why Most New Internet Marketers Fail

Why Most New Internet Marketers Fail

There are many reasons that new internet marketers fail and I am going to try to cover the most common ones in this post. I think the best way to take advantage of this post as a new internet marketer or even a novice or advanced internet marketer is to read the different reasons that new internet marketers fail and then make sure you DON’T do any of these things – as these things are very common.

Keep in mind that the following things are my based on my experience and opinion – I didn’t always make good money online like I do now – and when I wasn’t making any money I remember those things that lead me to not be making any money. Lets get into the goods.

1) Misconception of the internet marketing business: This has to be the largest reason why people fail to make a living on the internet, or any money at all for that matter. There is so much crap out there that guarantees thousands a week in minutes, hours, days, or whatever other promises they give. Or secret methods that promise quick success. There is only one secret to internet marketing and that is hard work.  Most people just do not understand this and they quit when they are not making money – usually within a few days or so. Very few hang in for the months (throwing out an average number here) that it takes to begin to make money online.

2) Chasing the new secret to big money: I touched on this a little bit in number 1, but this is big enough to be in a category all on its own. When I first started I would buy guide after guide – you know the ones that get sent out by all the “big time” marketers that contain the next big internet marketing secret or method? Well these are all gimmicks that “gurus” use to make each other rich. They are pretty much all crap. People buy them, try them for a few days or a week or so, fail, and then buy the next one. Stop wasting your time with “quick” and be prepared to work long and hard on building a real online business. I know it’s tempting and hard to turn down, but turn down the next big method as it’s mythical.

3) Reading, reading and reading – and never acting: The best thing that I can say to point out this one is that you have to start acting at sometime. I’m not sure if it is that we are scarred to actually start acting because we are afraid to fail, or if we just want it to be done for us, but so many new internet marketers have trouble acting. They just hang out on forums, make and read posts, read new articles and blogs and new methods to make money – but they never act. Start putting what you know to action – don’t be afraid to fail. It’s our failures that lead to our biggest successes, so get in there, fail, fail, fail, and then succeed (What It Takes To Succeed Online).

4) No guidance or bad guidance: This one sort of mixes in with some of the other ones, but it’s in a category all in its own. I say it mixes in with the other ones because again there are so many crappy products out there that mislead internet marketers that are trying to make a living on the internet.  That is the bad guidance part. The no guidance part is for the people that are either too cheap or too scarred (and I don’t blame you with all of the scammy crap and thieves out there) to invest in a good training program. But a lot of people who fall in the no guidance category are actually really smart – because good programs that aren’t scams are definitely in the minority unfortunately. As I have mentioned before Wealthy Affiliate is the program that taught me this business – but you have no reason to trust me over any other person out there – so do your research if you have to. There is definitely no guidance program out there that is better or more successful at creating successful internet marketers though – and if you do the proper research you will eventually find this (hopefully for your sake).

With that said I’m not sure what is worse, bad guidance or no guidance. Usually with the bad guidance there is some real information mixed in that you can learn from – but in the end you are misguided and waste your time. With no guidance you have to do everything on your own, and find everything on your own. When you have no guidance it is extremely hard to succeed in this business as you have to put everything together on your own which can take an awful lot of time.

If you are one who has no guidance (either because you cannot afford it or because you just do not trust giving out your credit card or you don’t trust finding a real legitimate guidance program) I want to recommend a few free forums for you to checkout so that you can try and teach yourself the business:

I will stop there for the major reasons that new internet marketers fail, but there are also tons and tons of minor reasons that new internet marketers fail. I am talking about reasons like trying pay per click when they are no where near ready, going after keywords that are way to broad, getting all of their back links from one method, and countless other minor mistakes that they hopefully learn from and turn into positives.

There are very few new internet marketers who turn their mistakes into positives – rather most of them get frustrated and give up. Hopefully if you are a new internet marketer you will be one who turns his or her mistakes into a positive learning experience and make sure you don’t make the same mistakes more than once.

Also remember that drop shipping (wholesaling and e-commerce) is a large part of the internet marketing business. A lot of new internet marketers get caught up in selling just informational products and make money related products (and not saying you shouldn’t or can’t do this) – but remember that there are also millions of physical products to sell.

And you don’t have to buy, package, ship, or stock any of the physical products you sell – that is what drop shipping is for. And that is why I recommend Worldwide Brands – because they are the #1 drop shipping learning center and directory not only on the internet, but I believe in the entire world.

Also don’t forget that the search engines are your friend, but at the same time there is a ton of crap out there in the search engines. Just because something is in the first spot of the search engine does not mean that it is a reliable source of information. Make sure that you use your common sense when reading up on information that you are looking for and make sure that you are getting the information you are looking for from a trustworthy source.

If they are not a well known site or source make sure that you again use your common sense. If it’s a site that just tries to pitch, pitch, pitch – or a site that offers any kind of quick success or outlandish claims move to a trustworthy site. If you use your common sense you can tell what kinds of sites are going to help you and which kinds of sites will not. Hopefully you can afford the proper guidance and join me over at Wealthy Affiliate or Worldwide Brands, but that decision is your in the end! See you all soon.
