Inter Linking Pages For SEO
Search Engine Optimization is a really easy concept when you start to understand it, and you will see that after I tell you about inter linking your pages and the SEO benefits that you can receive from inter linking your pages together.
Before I get too far into the concept of inter linking your own pages for search engine optimization benefits, I want to talk a little bit about SEO (more on SEO with The World Of Search Engine Optimization) itself so that you can understand exactly why inter linking your pages together will help you and why you will see benefits from inter linking your pages together.
As many of you may or may not know, search engine optimization is really divided up into two different parts, and they are very popular terms in the internet marketing world that you are probably well aware of if you have been in the internet marketing business for more than a couple weeks. And those two very different SEO terms that are oh so popular are on page optimization and off page optimization.
On page optimization (more with on page SEO: On Page SEO) is of course the things that you actually do either on your website or on a specific page to increase your rankings in the search engines; because SEO is all about increasing your web sites or web pages rankings in the search engines so that you can get more organic traffic and in turn make more profits from your website. On page optimization consists of things like including keywords in your domain name, including keywords in the titles of your pages, including keywords in your meta tags, including keywords in image alt tags, having proper keyword density – and also a bunch of other factors with your keywords that need to be properly laid out. Another part of on page optimization is proper linking throughout your page – and this is where inter linking comes in. But not only does inter linking help your on page optimization (because the search engines love web sites that are really easy to navigate and have proper linking setup throughout the web site), but it also helps your off page optimization – and I will go in to that in just a little bit.
Before I go in to that I want to go on about what off page optimization is (more with off page SEO: Off Page SEO). Off page optimization is pretty simple; it is basically all about links. The more links that you are getting back to your web site the better. The more relevant those links are to your web site, the better. The higher the PR of those links, the better. The more different sites that are linking to you, the better. Linking plays a huge role in the search engine optimization game (and therefore in the search engine rankings game because that is what SEO is all about), which is another reason why inter linking is so important.
So, now lets go in to inter linking and talk all about what inter linking is, how it benefits you, and why inter linking benefits you.
First, what is inter linking? Inter linking is when you link to a page that is on the same domain as yours. Now a lot of people think that there is absolutely no benefits, search engine optimization benefits that is, of linking from one of your pages on a domain to another page on the same domain. But this is totally untrue! Linking is not “divied up” by domain, but it’s separated by pages. Just because pages are on the same domain does not mean you do not get any benefits of linking to another page on the same domain.
There is a saying a link is a link is a link (more on links with Why Is It Important To Get Back Links) – and that saying has a lot to do with inter linking. When you are getting a link to one of your pages from another one of your pages – the search engine is still looking at that as a link. Just because the link is from the same DOMAIN does not mean anything, because the link is from a different PAGE.
I actually personally believe (through experience, through testing, and through lots of experience with what the search engines like and what increases your rankings) that inter linking can actually help a lot more than links from other sites in some cases.
Of course you don’t want all your links to be from the same domain – because it’s good SEO practice to have links from a bunch of different domains – the more domains the better. But at the same time, the more links you get the better. If you have a bunch of links from one page to another on your domain that is a good thing and it is going to help you a lot with your search engine rankings!
Let me tell you two reasons why inter linking can be so powerful in my eyes.
1) On Page Benefit Of Proper Linking – As I mentioned before the search engines love a web site that is easy to navigate and has proper linking setup. So when you link your pages together the search engines love this, because it makes it much easier to navigate from one page to another on your website. Of course when you have a web site like mine that has hundreds of pages you are not going to link to all of your pages from each page, so for each page just pick a few pages that are very relevant and link them. Each of those pages will get an additional back links from a RELEVANT page. And that’s a very powerful thing – a link from a RELEVANT page.
That is why you want to link to a few very RELEVANT (more on relevancy with Getting Back Links from Relevant Websites) pages each time you create a page or make a post. AND the more pages or posts you build – the more links you can get. Because each time you make a page or you make a post you can link out to another 2-10 or so pages or post that are relevant to the post you just made and that increases the power of those pages. So each time you do this you are increasing not only the power of the pages you are linking to, but the power of your domain in general. This will increase both your traffic and your page rank. It turns into a snow balling effect because links from higher PR pages are better – and your PR will increase the more you do this, again making it a snow ball effect!
2) Off Page Benefits Of More Links And Relevant Links – Now although I touched on this in the above paragraph – it ties in to the off page benefits. As I mentioned before the more links your page or domain gets, then the more power you are going to be getting in the search engine rankings. And the more relevant those links are, the more powerful your links are.
So when you are inter linking (linking from one page to another on the same domain) not only are you increasing the amount of links for those specific pages you are linking to and your domain – but you are getting relevant links which is giving you tons and tons of SEO benefits.
So hopefully with this post you see the SEO benefits of inter linking on your web sites (even more on linking: Why Back Links Are Important). There is no reason that you should not practice inter linking when you are doing your web sites and web pages. Any time you make a web site, or a web log (a blog) – make sure you keep track of all of your different pages and write down the URL for each of the pages or posts you make so that you can more easily practice inter linking on your own web site.
And you can even take this a step further the more web sites you make. As you make more web sites you can link more and more from one web site to another and from one page to another and so on and so on – the more sites and pages you create – the more powerful linking potential you have!
Remember, as always, I want to recommend the community that taught me this business – the Wealthy Affiliates. And of course the community that taught me the drop shipping end of this business – World Wide Brands. These two companies have taught me pretty much everything I know about the business and without them I would be lost in this business. I owe them everything – and I will always be in debt to them!
Of course if they are too expensive for you there is always alternatives with Doba for a drop shipping alternative and The Rich Jerk for a general internet marketing alternative.
